Victory in Europe Day

VE Day or Victory in Europe Day,  May 8, 1945, marks the day when Allied forces accepted the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany ending the fighting in Europe.  Across the world millions of people streamed into the streets to celebrate the end of the war in Europe.  In St. Catharines, the city and it’s citizens marked the event with a parade down St. Paul St.
