~ St. Catharines' Wartime Neighbourhoods

St.Catharines War Brides

As the war ended and the soldiers returned home to St. Catharines, like so many cities across the country, we welcomed some very new and special residents, War Brides.  According to “St.Catharines – Canada’s Canal City”, 70 War Brides made St.Catharines’ their new home.  Many of St.Catharines War Brides were from Surrey and settled in the western part of city around Louth St., where two of the city’s wartime neighbourhoods were built.
