The Woodnutts – 54 Doncaster St.

We have added another story to our families section. This story comes from Len Woodnutt who lived at 54 Doncaster St.

Thank you to Len and we look forward to meeting our many contributing families at our celebration on August 14th.

The Faulds and The Glimours

We’ve just added two new family stories.

The first is from Nancy Gilmour, who’s family lived at 34 Sherbourne St. from 1963 to 1977.  While not the original owners of this wartime house, her family like many today, are part of the history of these homes.

The second story is a very different one.  It comes from Diane (Faulds) Sutherland, who lived at 21 Doncaster St. from 1942 to 1947, but returned many years later to learn about her family history and reconnect with her past.

City to commemorate Battle of Vimy Ridge

The City of St. Catharines will honour those who fought in the Battle of Vimy Ridge with a flag-raising ceremony Friday morning.

On April 9, 1917, Canadian soldiers attacked a German stronghold at Vimy Ridge in northern France.

The victory is considered a defining moment for Canada, but it came at a cost. More than 10,000 soldiers were killed and wounded.
